Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions - Business
- How does a typical business sitting work?
- Once you come in to be photographed you have a choice, you can either have your
image choices emailed to you or we can mail you a proof sheet. After you've selected the
image that best captures your pose and expression we will retouch that image and put it
on a cd for you as a 72-dpi jpeg file and a 300-dpi tiff file. With this cd you can do any
number of things with your image, it is suitable for web, business cards, mailers, or to
print from the office. If you require finished prints or additional images, let us know and
we can accommodate you as well.
- What should I wear for my business sitting?
- Our standard business background is a light blue with some texture. Dark colors work
especially well on this background with a lighter shirt or blouse underneath. Jewelry
is best in small, simple pieces such as: a brooch, necklace, etc. Bring a change of jacket if
you are unsure about how something will look and the photographer can offer advice on
what will photograph best.
- How long will it take?
- You will only need about 15 minutes for your sitting since we email all your choices to
you. Please be on time and call if you need to cancel.
- What about a location sitting?
- Business sittings can be taken in our studio or on location. On location business images
can show the environment or project you work with to a great advantage. We can also set
up location shoots for companies that need a large number of individual portraits taken at
one time. Please ask us how for more details.
Frequently Asked Questions - Family
Decorating With Portraiture
- How do I make an appointment?
- You can call our studio anytime during our regular studio hours to make
an appointment. For in studio sittings it is generally a good idea to call a week
or two ahead of time to ensure that you get the time you want. For location
sittings (i.e. beach or park) it is advisable to book your appointment several
weeks in advance to reserve your time.
- What should we wear for our Family Sitting?
- We recommend that families consider the style they prefer when planning
for their sitting. Is your family casual (jeans, sweaters) or would you like a more
formal sitting (suit jackets, dresses, blouses) ? It is recommended that your family
try to stay in the same color tone when picking outfits, you don't want one person
wearing bright pink when everyone else is in navy! Stay away from busy prints or
patterns and sleeveless tops and dresses.
- Can my husband and I get a photo of just our children during our family sitting?
- Of course! We have excellent photographers who want to capture all the
special relationships in your family. In addition to a series of groupings of the entire
family, they also photograph groupings within each family (kids, mom with kids, dad
with kids, grandparents, parents etc.) if you have a specific request, just ask!
- When will I see my photos?
- At the time of your family sitting we schedule a time for you to come back into
the studio to view your family portraits. We project all your images on a 30x40 screen
for you to make your decisions. It is usually between 3-7 days from the time of your
sitting to be able to view your photos.
- When will my finished portraits be ready?
- After placing your order it takes 4-6 weeks to receive your finished portraits.
- Can we bring our family dog/cat?
- Certainly, we do request that you bring an additional person to handle the
animal during your sitting to avoid any difficulty.
- When is my sitting fee/portrait order due?
- Sitting fees are due in full at the time of your appointment. When you place
your portrait order a minimum 50% deposit is required to start the order with the
balance due upon pickup.
Frequently Asked Questions - Senior
Senior Dress
- What should I wear?
- Girls: For your yearbook sitting we suggest a solid color sweater or blouse or
dress with 3/4 or long sleeves. For a custom or deluxe sitting bring something
different in color and style from your yearbook outfit. Busy patterns or prints can be
distracting, solid colors tend to photograph best.
Boys: For your yearbook sitting we suggest wearing a shirt and tie with sport coat or
jacket. We have tuxedo shirts and jackets available for $5.00 cleaning fee per senior.
If you are getting a custom or deluxe sitting we recommend bringing a second or third
outfit in a different style and color tone from your yearbook outfit like, a button down,
favorite shirt, or casual sweater. Remember to shave on the day of your sitting and to iron
any clothing that is wrinkled-it will show!
- What does my sitting fee pay for?
- The sitting fee, which is due the day of your appointment is different depending
on which type of sitting you choose. In addition to the photographers time,
yearbook retouching, shipping and handling, the yearbook company also charges a publishing
fee from each student.
- What time should I get there for my appointment?
- Please be on time for your appointment, coming a few minutes early is a good
idea to allow you time to check in and ask any questions you may have. When students
come in late they back up the time for others, leading to a wait.
- Can I bring my mom/dad/sibling/friend?
- You may bring anyone you would like with you to the studio but usually the
photographer only allows one other person into the camera room with you.
- How do I select my yearbook choice and order my photographs?
- You will receive a packet in the mail about 8-10 days after your portrait appointment. The packet will contain all the proofs from your sitting as well as a price list and order form. To select your yearbook choice please select from the light gray background only and circle the id below it and initial next to the id. For your convenience we offer two ways to order Senior portraits:
- Come into the studio anytime during studio hours, no appointment necessary, and someone will be able to help you order and answer any questions you might have.
- Place order by mail. To complete your order the entire proofbook must be mailed back in the envelope provided for you in the packet. The amount of postage required is the same as on your original envelope.
- I'm looking at the packages/price list and I don't understand how it works.
- Have questions about the packages on our price list? Please come into the studio
any time during our regular business hours and one of our consultants will help you find
the package that is right for you.
